Poetry is the language of reflection. It takes the thoughts, emotions, questions, and convictions held within the heart and gives them form through carefully chosen words. Poetry can express what ordinary speech sometimes cannot. It invites us to slow down, look more closely, and consider the deeper meaning of the things that touch our lives.
The title of this collection, Reflections, carries a threefold meaning for me.
First, these poems are reflections of God’s Word. They were born from reading the Scriptures, considering their meaning, and allowing their truths to speak to the circumstances of life. They are not intended to replace the Bible, but to direct the heart back to it. Whatever truth or beauty may be found within these pages has its source in the One who
inspired His holy Word.
Second, these poems are reflections of my heart. They express moments of faith, gratitude, sorrow, hope, conviction, and wonder. They reveal something of my journey—what I have learned, what I have endured, and how God’s truth has continued to shape me along the way.
Finally, writing these poems helps me reflect upon God Himself. Through poetry, I pause to consider His greatness, His mercy, His righteousness, and His unfailing love. I reflect upon Jesus Christ, the salvation found in Him, and the hope of eternal life. In a hurried and distracted world, poetry gives me a quiet place to remember what matters most.
My prayer is that these reflections will also encourage you to pause—to open God’s Word, examine your own heart, and reflect upon the One who created you, loves you, and calls you to walk faithfully with Him.
May every poem ultimately turn our thoughts toward God, for He alone is worthy of all honor, praise, and glory.
